Mark Skwarek, Augmented Reality

Artist Mark Skwarek and select students from NYU Polytech will transform the city of Catskill NY as part of
the OCCUPY Wall St. to Main St. Augmented reality mixes the virtual and physical world with site specific interventions. The works created will address the economic concerns of the local community and the nation. Mark Skwarek will drive an augmented reality boat down Main St in Catskill while giving a tour as a performance for the show's opening.

  1. YES, but would love NYU involvement, but which project are they pitching for this event? bumperstickers? video?

    1. The work is site specific for the Catskill project. The videos are examples of previous work.

  2. Is space needed for this project?

    1. No space needed. Viewers would download an ap developed by Mark and his students. It would be a performance on opening day experienced in person and through smartphones/tablets. The ap would show Mark's car as a boat with a narrative tour of Catskill's Main Street.

  4. Sure - more reality - and appreciate the concern for and attention to immediate local dynamic.

  5. yes. our only issue might be post performance, assuming the ap / car tour, will be viewable past then, thinking - how to communicate with viewers that it exists and how to access the ap. should it have its own small window with instructions or a note about it? it might get overlooked in a program guide alone.
